Framing at Gallery Seventeen
Aperture: the aperture is the cut-out opening or ‘window’ in the mount board. All our mounts are cut with a 45° bevel.
Bespoke: Made to order. All our frames are individually cut to size by our in-house framer; so your frame is the perfect fit for your art work.
Moulding: ‘Moulding’ is an alternate term used to describe the frame, usually used in reference to the lengths of wood before it is cut up and made into a frame.
PH: the PH scale is used to measure the acidity of a material. In framing this is very important as it is the acid that seeps from materials which causes discolouring and damage to a piece of art work. A PH of 7 or more is acid free.
We use acid free conservation backing, and acid free mount boards. See ‘Mounts’ for more details.
